The Northern Foam League’s club president Ty Weir was thrilled about the club’s establishment this year. “Various groups and associations dedicated to Nerf events have existed since 2017,” said Weir. He had been working hard towards achieving the club’s recognition. “the Northern Foam League was only established this semester” he added.
They prepared for the event with excitement. The members laid out all of their safety goggles, foam darts, and plastic blasters across the floor. After setting up their impressive showcase, participants could use any blaster on display available to them. Everyone was given safety glasses. Weir explains why they wanted to host this event, stating “our goal for this event was to raise awareness and introduce the club to ONU.”
Before a couple rounds of flinging foam darts, the club members found it important to stretch together. It was a way of bonding together while preparing for the match.
“We want to grow our club and allow more people to have a safe environment for friendly foam-flinging fun” Weir continued. A safe environment where members can destress is what they value. To achieve this, obstacles were carefully constructed and cleared between rounds.
The team wishes to encourage students who enjoy the activity to consider visiting as they continue to host foam-flinging battle events on campus.
Weir adds that “if you want to be notified about future meetings and events, join our Discord server“. This platform is where they primarily bond through chat, discuss their interest in the sport, and organize their events.
