For the fourth year in a row, Northern Review participated in MediaFest, a conference for college students and their advisors who produce media. The event was held in Washington, D.C. this year, and is co-sponsored by the College Media Association (CMA), Associated Collegiate Press (ACP), and Society for Professional Journalists.

MediaFest is also when ACP and CMA announce the winners of their juried intercollegiate journalism competition awards, titled Pacemakers and Pinnacles respectively. This year marks the first time in its history that Northern Review has received recognition from the ACP Pacemakers, with former Northern Review Opinion Editor, Culture Editor, and Copy Editor Arin Wade earning an Honorable Mention in Multimedia News Story for “Rite Aid Closure in Ada and Its Impact on Patient Care.”

Northern Review also earned 12 CMA Pinnacle awards, the most we have ever received in a single year:

Northern Review also presented for the second year in a row, explaining the editors’ accumulated knowledge and unique ways the Northern Review newsroom operates to journalists from across the country, this time in a panel titled “Lessons We Taught Ourselves” alongside representatives of Ohio University and California Polytechnic State University.

From networking and professional development to presentation experience and national awards, Northern Review’s success in student media continues to expand year after year. This enables us to continue serving you, the student body. We hope to continue to earn such recognition.
