Each year Ohio Northern University holds an honors day celebration. This ceremony is held every year in March. Honors day gives students recognition for their academic achievements through many ceremonies and honoraries. While in most cases these sorts of things are exclusive to students, in these cases invitations to honors day are always extended to the families and friends of students who will be receiving an award.
On March 10, 2021 the Office of Multicultural Development virtually held a Global Initiatives Honors and Award Ceremony. This celebration honors international and minority students for their academic achievements. The ceremony recognized Dimension Award scholars that have an overall GPA in the following categories: Cum Laude (3.50-3.69 Cumulative GPA), Magna Cum Laude (3.70-3.89 Cumulative GPA), and Summa Cum Laude (3.90-4.00 Cumulative GPA). Additionally they handed out various international student awards and scholarships for the next academic year.
Overall, honors day is a great tradition to acknowledge the academic prowess of the students here on campus. Having a specific ceremony for the minority and international population on campus allows them to have a sense that they aren’t all alone, even up here in the cornfields.
