As an incoming freshman, the college move-in process can appear a little daunting. August 20th marked move-in day for first year students. Arriving to campus made me smile. As our jam-packed car entered, we were soon greeted by sign-wielding and cheering students. The high energy orientation leaders’ signs were adorned with phrases like “Honk, if you love ONU” and “Welcome New Polar Bears.” That experience alone made my whole first day as a Polar Bear.

Klondike’s crew is a service made up entirely of volunteers, designed to help new students and their families move everything into their dorms. I would like to commend those who gave their Thursday morning up for this wonderful opportunity. Your crew helped give me a clear picture of what embodies the ONU spirit.

When I return as a sophomore, I see myself joining Klondike’s crew, or even just to cheer reassurance to students as they enter campus on move-in day. I believe all freshmen should have the warm, jovial entrance to college as I had.
