Did you know there are global bears from various countries right here on the ONU campus? This inaugural collection features three unique conversations with exchange students as they wrap up their semester abroad.
What is Ohio Northern University like, seen through the eyes of the global bears? How was a semester at ONU for them?

Shu-Ching (Joanna) Yu is an exchange student from Ming Chuan University in Taiwan, majoring in Applied English. She came to the United States to gain life experience and engage in cultural exchange with students from ONU and around the world. During her time at ONU, Shu-Ching took business classes, including International Management and Consumer Behavior. She hopes to work in international companies, particularly in import and export.
Mai Minengo is an exchange student from Kwansei Gakuin University in Japan. She is majoring in Sociology with a concentration in Social Psychology. She came to the United States to study the cultural differences between Japanese and American dance. Mai performed in the ONU Holiday Spectacular as a cast member, utilizing her ballet experience since the age of three. She wants to contribute to society by creating a world where Japanese children can more easily pursue their dreams of becoming artists.
Nell Cullen is an exchange student from Ulster University Belfast in Northern Ireland, here through the British Council’s Study USA Programme. Majoring in Law, she is undertaking Criminal Justice and Business classes at ONU. She came here to experience a new culture and explore a new education system. Her highlights have included performing with the ONU Symphony Orchestra and exploring new cities in the US. Her plan after returning home is to graduate and then begin law school.
Your host, Hyeonah (Hannah) Choi, leads these engaging discussions with our exchange students. Together, they share perspectives on what it means to study abroad and how the international community enriches life at ONU.
