Zeta Tau Alpha, one of the four Panhellenic sororities on campus, recently held their annual Think Pink event at the ONU / Mount Union football game. Through a series of raffles and merchandise sales, the sorority raised money for the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation, which directly supports the fight against breast cancer.
Think Pink Chairman Lila Corino Cook organized this year’s fundraiser. She said that “the Think Pink game allows everyone to take a moment to appreciate all breast cancer patients, survivors, as well as those we have lost.”
During the game, Zeta collected Pink Basket donations, which are filled with small gifts that can bring joy to a cancer patient.
“The baskets give breast cancer fighters items they made need while enduring such a difficult time, while also giving them a light in their day to let them know they are never alone in their fight,” Corino Cook wrote.

Zeta’s philanthropy hit close to home with sophomore Megan Nerderman, who was volunteering as a member of the sorority. She knew firsthand how great of a significance donations and awareness has on families impacted by the disease.
“Think Pink is super important to me because my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer a long time ago,” Nerderman expressed. “She is an eighteen year survivor now.”
Despite Ohio Northern falling 42-13 to Mount Union, Zeta Tau Alpha was not only able to fundraise, but also express to their family and peers the importance that awareness has on cancer patients.
“The ONU community can help promote Breast Cancer Awareness by continuing to organize and attend Think Pink or Pink Out games, hosting educational events, and offering resources to educate others on the disease,” Lila Corino Cook shared. “I hope to make a difference myself and make educational opportunities more accessible to the ONU community.”
